Mephisto Waltz (“Der Tanz in der Dorfschenke”) Episode from Lenau's Faust (Dance in the Village Inn) composed by Franz Liszt, arranged for accordion solo by Anthony Galla-Rini.
Franz Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz Episode (“Der Tanz in der Dorfschenke”) is the second of his Two Episodes from Lenau’s Faust, composed between 1857–1861. Orchestral and piano versions. It is also known as the First Mephisto Waltz, the most famous of the four Mephisto Waltzes Liszt later wrote. The piece is a vivid example of program music, directly depicting a scene from Nikolaus Lenau’s 1836 verse drama Faust.
