Marriage by Bill of Exchange is the English description of La cambiale di matrimonio, Gioachino Rossini’s first staged opera (1810). It is a one‑act comic opera (farsa) about a father who tries to “sell” his daughter in marriage using a literal bill of exchange, turning a business contract into a marriage contract.
