Entry of the Gladiators (Thunder and Blazes), Op. 68 composed in 1897 is one of the most famous marches ever written—instantly recognizable as the circus‑clown theme—yet its origins are far more serious and rooted in late‑19th‑century military band tradition. This work was composed in Sarajevo while Fučík served as military bandmaster in the Austro‑Hungarian Army.
