Canon in D, Johann Pachelbel, (Ensemble) arranged by Anthony Galla-Rini
This accordion ensemble arrangement is prepared with a two-fold purpose:
#l. For a classical rendition; four accordion parts, conforming strictly
to the original score. A 5th part (Bass accordion) is optional and
is indicated in the fourth part.
#2. For a "Pop" version; four parts or other instruments, constituting
a rhythmic background, are added (not shown in the accordion score),
as follows:
PIANO : The right hand has the rhythmic pulsation throughout most of
he piece. The chords conform to the original score.
STRING BASS (Bass Guitar, optional ). Tnis part nas the tundamenal
notes oI Lhe narmorny throughout. Chord symbols are indicated, allow
ing for elaborrations, i,e,, *walking bass" etc.
DRUMS: For Bass drum and Snare drum. Various rhythm patterns are
indicated, from simple to more complicated, in order to show the
basic feel of the pulsating rise and fall throughout. However,
the player is free to elaborate accordingly.
GUITAR: Although this part, consisting of 8th-note arpeggios, is
not shown in the original score, it could well have been included
since it resembles an elaboration of the Cembalo part and sounds
typical of the Barogue style of performance.
NOTE: If desired for substitutions, the Piano part may be played on
the accordion (both hands) and the Guitar part on the right hand;
The String bass part may be played on the Bass accordion.
