Gary Daverne ONZM (born 1939) is one of New Zealand's most celebrated musicians: an internationally recognised composer, conductor, arranger and record producer based in Auckland. He founded the Auckland Symphony Orchestra in 1975 and was its Music Director until 2010, and is now its Music Director Emeritus.

Across his career he has composed orchestral works, brass and wind band music, children's musicals, and more than 500 television and radio jingles, and is widely regarded as New Zealand's most prolific composer and arranger of music for the accordion. In recognition of his contribution to New Zealand music he has received the Order of New Zealand Merit (ONZM) and the Benny Award (2010). He has since established the Gary Daverne Music Foundation and the Gary Daverne Classical Music Award to support emerging musical talent.
