obriens139 Shenandoah: Duet
This plaintive American folk song was a sea chantey in the 1840's (aka Across the Wide Missouri). The changing meters and free flow provide a melancholy remembrance of early times in the U.S.A. when life was not necessarily simpler, but certainly less frantic. Shenandoah may have been the name of a ship, an Indian chieftain, or the Virginian valley.
This duet provides a good opportunity for both performers to balance and phrase together. |
