Moreton Bay is adapted from an Irish tune called Youghal Harbour and is also known in Australia as A Convict's Lament on the Death of Captain Logan. Captain Logan was the warden of the penal colony in Queensland and the Australian words to the song were written after an aboriginal killed him. It is a rather bitter lament.
