This solo with a pleasing melody has several musical features constructed within to advance the early student’s technical ability. Bass solo opportunities—one with double-note accompaniment in the right hand; a stretch of the right hand out of closed hand position; and an F Major scale add technical challenges to the work. Suggestions for optional bass are indicated to make the work accessible to players of varying ability. The composition also employs rhythmic variety, accents, and rests to musically illustrate a jumping Jack.
