ec215 Tim the Thatcher:
This jig was collected by Mary O’Neill for Francis O’Neill’s mammoth tune books published in 1903 and 1907. The tune was notated in A Major/Mixolydian (O'Neill Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies, No. 739, p. 138) and later in A minor (O'Neill Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems, No. 375, p. 76). This arrangement is in A Dorian, which is perhaps the best of all worlds. This one-page arrangement includes three parts--melody, descant, and harmony--and can be played as a solo or ensemble on accordions or other instruments. It is bundled in a set of four pages: treble clef for C instruments, alto clef for viola, bass/tenor clefs for cello, and treble clef Bb transposition. Chords are given for guitar or accordion. |
