The idea of compiling "Stars of Russian Bayan" CD series belongs to the well known promoter and popularizer of bayan playing art in Russia Alexander Tolmachev, famous in his Motherland for numerous radio programmes "Bayan Players"' broadcasting for many years.
In 1980 the first records of his "Leading Bayanists of Russia" were issued. For the last few years 28 LPs with recordings of the best outstanding bayan players of Russia and the Ukraine, who contributed a lot to bayan playing art promotion and its development. The name of A. Tolmachev is well known to pedagogues of musical schools, colleges and conservatories thanks to his books :Bayan in Music School"' "Little Virtuoso"' series of four books "Orgam Music in Trasciption for Bayan".
