Notes from the Composer:
DW519 - Subterfuge:

Playing Standard: Grade 7
Playing Time (approximate): 3 minutes 30 seconds

Written in E Major, this piece and starts with a fast 8 quavers (half beats) to a 4/4 bar time mode that helps develop a even touch, dexterity, and control throughout. Surprise and attack chords, bellows shakes, and an occasional treble keyboard glissando are called for, until the final section of treble chords.

An even touch is required in establishing the strong, driving basses and rhythmic content throughout the piece. Note that only fundamental and counterbasses are used - there are no bass chords throughout the entire composition. It is intended as a pleasing party piece designed to get the interest of even those disinterested in the accordion.
